I have been requesting a statement and settlement offer from Edcon and their debt collecting dogs MBD for three months now. I told them I would like to settle the account as I cannot afford the interest charged on the account which owed R3800 and now was handed over for R5700.
I was unemployed for 3 years reported this to Edcon as they were my employers, they handed my account to MBD for collection and I agreed to make payments of R100 per month. I have been paying constantly over the last 6 months or so to my surprise the payments of R1500 in total have not made any difference according to the balance heard on their automated line. U would expect that now I am owing R5700 - 1500 paid up to so far right? wrong! I owe R6000 and the explanation from Edcon is that its because I am under admin and MBD is charging me R75 per month for their admin? I am still to get the statement or settlement amount was kept on hold till the line died. Why am I paying R75 pm interest? I am paying what I CAN and couldn't even afford my principal debt in the first place? You just increasing my debt! They listed me incorrectly on ITC and I cant get credit! appalling way to make off struggling people!!!
