Bad attitude and no help

I gota dress from Truworths as a gift from my Gran. She obviously didnt give me the reciept but the tag is still on and this dress has NEVER been worn. I went to Truworths Greenstone with the hope that i can either swope the dress for a size that fits me as this dress is a little big, but they didnt havethe dress on the shelf, so i chose something else. When i got to the till Melisha assisted me and she said nothing she can do, NO EXHANGES ALLOWED as i dont have the reciept, I explained to her that it was a present and can i not swope it for a better fitting size and she said no as i dont have the reciept and that it states this behind the receipt. PLEASE tell me WHO reads behind their reciept and with the NEW CREDIT ACT. There is no such thing as not being able to help the consumer if not happy with the purchase, as long as the tag is on there shouldnt be aproblem, Woolworths and Edgars had to change their old policy when the New NCC came into being so why didnt Truworths? So i have an item i paid R400 for that i can not do anything with, i as a consumer has a right. Then Melisha laughed at me and the supervisor had a bad attitude when i asked for her name! disgusting!!
