I purchased a Genesis hydro Vac R1699 . Still well under guarantee I had to send it for repairs through Makro last week. Repairs quoted at over R600 and several telephone calls later to both the local repair centre as well as to the Verimark head office left me totally horrified. Due to rust on both screws and some metal part of my motor, the motor needs to be replaced. Now, I totally understand that Verimark and Genesis are both such strong brand names and that the service received from them are believed to be great, but no guarantee apparently covers rust in a HYDROVAC working with water, splashes and spills etc clearly to be expected blah blah blah!! I was told that the call centre also elevated my query to a senior person, Tim Minty (not sure about spelling), and he too said no guarantee to rust damage. Is it possible that staff and management at such a big company not realize that rust will occur in a water vacuum cleaner. Reading other similar complaints and talking to another customer returning one on the same day for the same issue, I now realize it's quite common. Can Verimark NOT assist these clients, they have disappointed and misled?
