I bought a Whirlpool Ceran touch control Hob (Model - AKT821LX) last Month on the 20th - It was okay all the time until last week Friday (20-Sep-2013), after cooking, while it was still cooling off it just cracked. I've reported the issue and a technician was sent to my house to make an assessment. Today I get a call from Whirlpool saying I cracked the glass myself by putting something heavy or by dropping something on it, and that I will need to pay R2000.00 to replace the glass - The HOB is R2500.00 retail value. What I don't understand is that a technician makes an assumption that I broke the glass myself, is this how customers are really treated, decisions are made on assumptions.
