Trappers sells Garmin GPS under false pretences

Trappers Tzaneen sold a Garmin Nuvi 500 GPS to me a few years back as a navigational instrument for sailing the Southern African Coastline. It had offshore maps and worked well for a few years.
This year I went to have it updated for a Mozambique trip and was told it did not work in Mozambique.
I was told on purchase it worked for all Southern African waters with the maps loaded.
I now have an instrument that cannot do what I bought it for.
The manager comment was "it could never do what it was purchased to do but we cannot help"
