The Space
Undermining of customers

On Sunday, 1 September 2013, I went to The Space (Woodlands - Pretoria East) to buy a dress for my sister. My sister had tried on the dress before but she could not purchase it at the time. The dress was on sale for R420. I called my sister, who is in Nelspruit, to tell her how much the dress cost on sale. She asked me to ask the sales ladies to verify the price with their scanner. I asked a lady named Palesa to verify the price and she told me "that's a wierd question to ask". Anyway, she verified it and found that the dress had dropped to R325. I paid for the dress and as I left the shop, she said the following to me: "Thank you for shopping at The Space, please buy full priced items next time" I asked her what that was supposed to mean, and she carried on explaining that I shouldn't buy sales goods. I felt so undermined and disrespected because this girl has no idea who I am and how deep my pockets are and yet instead of appreciating the fact that she made a sale, she feels as if she has a say on how I should spend my money at The Space!
