Premium Price Tag - Poor Quality

My husband bought me a Swatch watch for Christmas 2012. In the nearly 9 months that I've had it, the plastic strap has broken twice. It was replaced in May (a process which took 6 weeks) via the Gateway branch, but now it's broken again. Why did my husband spend R1300 on a watch with a plastic strap that needs to be replaced every couple of months? If we're paying for a premium product, we expect premium quality. If I had bought a cheap plastic watch from a fashion retailer I would expect it to break this quickly, but not a Swatch. If this is the quality of the materials used, then the price tag should've been closer to that of a disposable watch. I complained on the international website and have had no response - I doubt I will receive a response from this channel of communication.
