I visited the Vorna Valley Spar on Saturday 10th August 2013 to purchase a few items.
3 packets of Cornflake Crumbs were left all of which had expired in the first week of August 2013.
We took them to a staff member (Zinzi) making him aware of this.
When purchasing feta cheese we discovered around 8 tubs (large and small) which had expiry dates of 3rd and 8th August 2013 and two that had expiry dates of 22nd and 27th July 2013.
Who knows how many other items have expired that we didn't need to purchase.
When we asked for the manager we were told that he was out. We then walked over to the counter at the front & weren't we surprised to see Simon (the manager) behind the counter.
This is not the first experience I've had at this Spar with expired items but it is the first time I have discovered this many items in such a short space of shopping time.
The previous time we were told that this was unacceptable and it will not happen again. It seems that no one at this store is concerned that the merchandiser keeping the shelves stocked with expired items.
This has definitely tarnished Spar's reputation in my eyes and I will be extremely hesitant to shop at this store in the future.
