No new replacement card

Makro does not provide replacement card unless you have your ID document. I was in a smash and grab and my ID was with my Makro account card. When i went to the store to get a replacement card they tell me i cant get one unless i show my ID document. I had my passport with me but Makro didnt want to accept that as formal identification. Which is ridiculous as i can only get a new ID in a couple of weeks from Home Affairs. A passport is a formal form of identification, so i dont see Makro's point of saying that they need an ID.
