I wanted to purchase a typhoon desk, filing cabinet and a sideboard at Strubens Valley @Home. The sideboard cabinet was damaged and I tried to get a proper discount on it but they refused and only gave me a 10% discount even though the paint is chipping off. The typhoon desk was priced in-store R1499 but on the @home website it is advertised as R1300. I BEGGED them to charge me the actual advertised price but they refused. I even spoke to the store owner over the phone and he told me that it's the head office's problem. I see this as false advertising and I feel it is wrong for a business of this size (@home falls under the foschini group) to false advertise their prices. At the end of the day I still gave in and accepted to buy the desk at the overcharged price. All condition that I had was that I receive my furniture ASAP. But the store manager assured me that I would NOT receive my goods in less than 7 working days. That's ridiculous! I've never had to wait that long for a furniture delivery. I offered to pay MORE for delivery just to have it delivered sooner, but the response I received was "oh no don't you have your own bakkie?! " I am disgusted and disappointed.
