We purchased 2 luggage gloves (R990) by credit card at Cellini, Tygervalley Centre on 14 July 2013. After leaving Cellini we discovered the same product for R50 cheaper at Frasers. We returned to Cellini requesting a refund & was advised the store does not give refunds only credit vouchers. We asked where this policy was displayed & the sales assistant indicated to a small piece of paper pasted on the counter which we did not see as another customer was standing to the left of the counter at the time the purchase was made. He also indicated the policy was written on the receipt which you only receive once the transaction has been processed. At no time were we verbally advised of this policy & were forced to take the credit voucher.
On 15 July 2013 I emailed the Cellini head office requesting assistance with a refund to the credit card. Alistair Seegers of Cellini's response - It is their company's policy to stick to the recommended retail selling prices from all their suppliers & never to go below/above that price, and they have actually overridden their company rules by giving a credit voucher as it is normally not a policy of theirs to reduce prices. No refund was given.
