Unacceptable Attitude to Customers

We recently got an unwanted slow cooker as a wedding gift (we got plenty for our engagement) after some research we found out that house and home were the only stockists of this product.

Upon going to House and Home to exchange the slow cooker for something we actually need, we were told that we need to go back to the gift givers and get the receipt or they will not exchange it. I told the lady we were dealing with that this was not an option. She said that we must just hang on to the slow cooker whilst giving some excuse about a paper trail and not being sure which branch the item was bought from.

No other retailer has dealt with exchanges in such a rude and indifferent manner. I am honestly appalled at their unwillingness to allow a simple exchange and will not be shopping at their establishment until they change their attitude. Furthermore I recommend that no one even thinks about buying wedding gifts for anyone from House & Home lest they need to return them.
