Blocked my account with no communication

I tried to use my Thank U card at CNA and was told it declined. I have had an account with Edgar's for 30 years and this has never happened. I phoned the Accounts dept and was told they had blocked my account as I hadn't updated my details. I said I would have if I'd been informed that I needed to and was told they had sent SMS's to all their customers. My cell phone number hasn't changed and I never got any SMS, email, phone call or letter in this regard. I can't believe they just stopped my account without trying harder to contact me.
It is embarrassing to have your card declined in a shop and I have a long history with Edgar's and am very offended. I told the person on the phone that I will close the account once I have paid it off as I really don't need this kind of treatment. I updated my information over the phone with her and she apologized for their having blocked my account.
You can imagine my further annoyance when I received an SMS (yes, they managed this time!) about 2 weeks later telling me my Edgar's account had been suspended as I hadn't updated my details! 2nd time after I had updated my details. Bye, bye Edgar's!
