We bought a SMEG oven about 4 years ago and it is rusting on the sides (despite taking very good care of it), the display lights in the front have crumbled and falled back into the cavity behind, the black coating on the front panel is coming off in big flakes, the clips on the thermostat rusted off and the thermostat is hanging in the back. Great looking product, but the old days of growing up with your moms oven is over it appears. We called SMEG and they referred us to some small repairer in Durban who arrived without any tools and eventually quoted almost R3000 to repair it. We have emailed SMEG for a quote on the parts including the front panel and await their response.
