After notifying ADT in August last year that I will be cancelling my contract with them as a result of the most atrocious customer service I have ever experienced in my life, I was not contacted save for a written letter from them indicating that I am not allowed to cancel my contract as it is valid until 2014. A clear breach of the CPA.
Despite numerous unanswered calls, mails and zero response to a formal complaint laid with the National Consumer Commission, ADT continues to debit my account despite the bank reversing the charges every month. I have had to employ council to engage ADT in a civil suit by the end of January should the matter not be resolved.
I would strongly advise anyone considering using them to rather spent whatever extra and employ a local firm. A quick scroll through Hellopeter shows the same issues with an average of 5 complaints a day. I dont know what I was thinking even giving them a chance.
