My friend and I watched the 19:35 show of Klein Karoo on Wednesday 6 Feb 2013, in Cinema 8, Menlyn.
I paid for our tickets with my Fanatics card.
But I suppose if it is Woza Wednesday and you pay the discount price, then you should be okay with seeing only the middle square of the screen. Both sides of the screen were cut off. When the ads started, we did not have an image at first, then no sound, and when that was fixed, the screen size was not right - and stayed like this all throughout the movie. There was no noticeable attempt to fix it.
When the movie started, I ran out and asked the first attendant I found to please report the fault in cinema 8. I told him what was wrong there. He said okay, and I went back to the movie. But either nobody cared, or nobody knew what to do about it.
Unfortunately, this is not the first instance of faulty films at Menlyn Nu Metro. Brave 2D was out of focus the whole time (your eyes miraculously adjust eventually...) and I have heard other people complain about sound problems.
I would like to watch movies at Menlyn Nu Metro, because it's my closest cinema, but I will rather go somewhere else from now on. Like Ster Kinekor...
