I have been trying for 2 years to cancel my fathers TV licence. He lives with me. He watches my tv. I pay my tv licence.
SABC continues to harass a sickly pensioner on this issue and now he has been handed over.
We were told last year to send an affidavit to confirm that he does not have a TV. We did this.
I received a reply with an attached form 7/6/2012 for him to sign that he does not have a TV. If this form had been sent to me when I made my initial phone call, we would have filled it in and had it certified by the police. They want to know who he sold his TV to and what that person's tv licence is. Is is the public responsibility to get this information.
I don't think it is fair to expect a sickly pensioner to have to go back to the police station and deal with aggressive debt collectors.
I have invited SABC to inspect my property anytime to see that we have only one TV which is mine.
The fact that he was in the system means that he was an honest citizen who paid his licence for 40 plus years. Why not go after all the illegal users of SABC instead of harassing honest folk?
