I phoned DSTV call centre and was informed to contact any accredited installer. I found Alpha Fokou accredited installers to check if they are able to assist. On the 19/02/2013 Alpha said I should bring the decoder to his shop. I asked him is he qualified to open the decoder and he said yes everyone at DSTV knows him. He then told me it was going to cost me R150 for him to check it out. I went to the bank to draw the money when I returned he already opened the decoder. That is when he said he could make a connection on the port that is faulty to make it work but if he does I cannot take it back to DSTV for whatever reason. I told him NO. He then said ok take it to DSTV to be swapped out but I will be liable for the costs. So I told him I would rather take it to DSTV then, but he never told me that he had taken a seal off, and that I could not take it their anyway because the seal was broken. The customer puts faith in any DSTV accredited installers. The fact that he with held crucial information like he is not allowed to open the Decoder was no concern to him.
Alpha Fokou uses the DSTV accreditation to gain customers trust to rip them off.
Please investigate him thoroughly and advise
