We took our son for his 8th Birthday to Gold Reef City this morning. He was overly excited about the thrill rides. We knew there are height restrictions for those type of rides and we measured our son a few days ago. He measured 1.32 meters tall, thus being the correct height for the above-mentioned rides.
His excitement was dashed when both the cashier and later a manager informed us that he wont be able to go on the rides. His head touched the lines that they use to measure the kids with, but still this was a problem. The Manager actually asked me whether we cut our son's hair after we measured him. Although we did cut his hair two weeks ago, does this mean that if he still had longer hair and it was for example gelled, he would've been allowed on the rides? I tried to reason with the manager over the fact that the website states "1, 3 meters or above" and that it doesn't indicate a age restriction from what I could see.
At the end of the day my son was extremely disappointed and it seems we will now have to wait for his hair to grow back some before he'll get the opportunity to go on his first roller coaster ride.
