I made a vacation rental booking for 4 nights at 3700 p/night. This was done over the phone/email. When I paid the balance the second morning we arrived it was high but I assumed it was the security deposit. When I realized that I'd been billed for 5 days although we stayed only 4 nights I went to talk to the agent. I was also aware that a family was scheduled to arrive at the place the same day we left. She was pleasant but then told me that I got the invoice weeks ago and agreed to pay 5 days for my 4 day booking. We looked through the email logs and found a blank email with no text and attached invoice. When I disputed the bill - her tone changed and told me how exclusive the property was, how lucky I was to get a booking at all, and how nasty the landlord was. She also claimed her boss would fire her because they'd already paid the landlord. My only recourse is to share my experience and to take this up with my credit card company. I recommend finding a better company to rent vacation rentals from.
