Our body corporate hired managing agents, Camroth Property Group and they were entrusted over a long period of time with collection of levies, payment of accounts and holding excess funds in trust on behalf of the body corporate. In July 2012 after a special levy was raised to put up a fence and Camroth were unable to pay the deposit to the contractor, we became suspicious and it has now emerged that Camroth and it's proprietor, Mr Robert Shaw Thompson are unable or unwilling to pay back to the body corporate funds in excess of R400000, 00 which they were holding in trust. They also did not pay accounts and we almost had the complex water cut off. We have changed managing agents and months after we did so, they still have not paid the funds over. We tried to proceed with a criminal action against Mr Thompson but were advised to proceed civilly. That is too costly and we have no guarantee of recovery, so he has our money and we cannot get it back. It is unjust that someone can take your money and you have no recourse to get it back.
