I moved into my flat in April 2013, and the payment ref given to me to use was Sti0305, all these months i have been paying my account via Internet banking, I always pay before the 1st of each month, however yesterday I got an sms informing me that my account was in arrears and need to pay or credit control procedures will be followed. I then called the agency I spoke to a lady who I found very rude, I explained my issue to her, she spoke to me in a condescending tone and said that I am not using the correct ref number when making payments and the first reference number that was given to me when I moved in was a temporary one so I can make the first payment.., she then informed me that I was wrong to use reference: sti0305 and I am supposed to use the one listed on deposit slip that comes with the account statement every month, This little detail was not even mentioned to me after moving in, this does not make sense at all to me because when I receive my statements all I look at is the amount I need to pay and never pay attention to anything else since I do payments online.i have sent proof of payments but the caretaker informed me he will be locking my flat tomorrow
