I moved in one of the flats owned by AFHCO in Newtown called Newgate. I paid a deposit of R2060 this on the contract was to be refnded to me when i moved out. It is also mentioned on the contract that this is only refunded given that the place is as it was when you moved in and you stayed there for more than a year. Should you decide to move out you have to give notice of a month.
I decided i wanted to move out end of July2013 because my rent jsut kept rising with added costs i didnt know about. Isent them a notice as soon as i decided this but sent it to the wrong email address. I called just to find out if the notice was received and was advised. I decided to cancel the notice as i wasn't finding a place but was advised that there was someone provisioned for the flat already. I asked for proof that they indeed receive my initial email (the notice) but they could not provide.
They sent me a note to vacate the promises. The caretaker came to do checks and found a chip tile and marke on the wall and that was all. I have been tying to get my deposit since then with no luck. They've been lying to saying ithas been deposited or say i do not qualify even though they KICKED ME OUT.
