I have been renting a townhouse with Invest (Just Letting) Newcastle since MAY 2012. I requested for a 12 month contract. I had to give notice for the end of August 2013, due to a better work oppurtunity. My proposition did'nt realise and I tried to cancel my notice, but was informed that a new tenant had already been found, and that I could not stay on. I vacated the premises on the 30/08/2013, and was present when the outgoing inspection was done. No issues were found.
I have been trying since 02/09/2013 to get my tenant deposit back, but were continiously being told that "They are working on it". After daily calls I was informed today (05/09/2013) by Anina from Newcastle branch that I would not be getting my deposit back.
I was told that:
1: I signed a 24 month contract (I requested a 12 month contract, never received a copy of the contract)
2: I was notified by herself (Anina) that I would lose my deposit, which I was not. I have only dealt with Michelle in 2013, as she was the one that informed me of my yearly increase of 10%, documents to put this into effect I have not yet seen, but I have already paid the adjusted amount of monthly rental.
