I went to Rawson Properties for my first house and Susan von Leben of Port Elizabeth assisted me. Precluded from talking with the seller, I lodged defects with the agent who said that all defects will be attended to in due course.
After moving in, I found more defects that could have been noticed if the agent had familiarised herself with the property. Water lines were not connected to taps, dampness etc. The agent assured me that everything will be attended to by the seller. Eight months later both agent and seller have disappeared, the defects are prevailing and I am paying for trust in Rawson.
I requested copies of my Offer to Purchase and related documents on many occasions, only got it in August, less a crucial document.
Rawson Properties got their commission, the Seller got payment and I'm sitting with a rotten tomato. Rawson Properties don't accept responsibility for their agent's unprofessional, incompetent approach. They claim their service is marked by honesty and integrity - clients are regarded as "family", hardly what one expect from family.
Be aware when dealing with this bunch, they have no scruples when there's a quick buck to be made from unsuspecting buyers.
