I rented a property through Tyson Properties Morningside for four years. The Agents attitude was terrible from the outset but I needed a place for my family to stay and so I just accepted bad service (Typical South African).
At the termination of my tenancy I was told that I would not recieve my full deposit back as I would have to pay for steam cleaning the carpets. I contested this as I had not excessively dirtied the carpets. When I obtained advise from the Institute of Estate Agents National that I didnt have to pay for this as there was no checklist before and after conducted by the agent. I was then sent a host of damages compiled at an inspection done 6 days after I had already handed over the property, Damages I was not responsible for appeared on this report. I have still had no definite answer as to my deposit from Tyson Properties and after countless emails back and forth there is still no light at the end of the tunnel. If you are renting from Tyson Properties Morningside please DOCUMENT everything because this agency does not operate within the confines of the Rental Housing ACT or take into concideration the rights of the tenants. PLEASE BECAREFUL WHEN RENTING HERE!
