I contacted my local municipality to change my debit order details. I did it two days before the account was due. I knew that the new details would not come into effect in time, so I paid the due account via Easypay.
However, I was charged a R205.96 rejection fee.
On the form it says that changes must be received before the 9th of the month to come into effect before the 7th of the following month.
I accept that the payment will not be processed by the new bank in time, which is why I paid it manually.
But I find it excessive that I should be charged the rejection fee.
