On the 10th February 2012 I went to Home Affairs in Seshego to make application for a new ID to the new surname. We were told it will take - 6months and immediately its back they will send an sms. That has never happened, I made several calls to their national office starting in July 2012. In November 2012 someone from Head office phoned to tell me to go to Seshego Home affairs to correct other things before the ID can be processed. That has been done and even today my son is still waiting for the ID or even a call or sms from Home affairs. He was allowed to write matric using the new surname and now he is struggling because wherever he goes they want the id with the surname printed on matric results. Its a serious problem. Home Affairs cannot make a young boy who wants to have a bright future to suffer like that. Could they at least give him the ID or a promise as to when will it be available.
