According to the UIF Act when a person become unemployed you have six months to apply for unemployment. Your unemployment payment should be calculated from the date that you become unemployed.

I applied for unemployment 2 months after I became unemployed because I was looking for another job. It was still valid but a month after I applied a did get a job. Know they are only paying me for 1 month unemployment instead of 3 months - The unemployment Act states that a persons benefits will be calculated from the date that you became unemployed and not from the date that you applied!!!
