Department of Home Affairs
LOSS OF DOCUMENTS (TWICE)

On 18.11.2010 my daughter submitted documentation to register a foreign birth at the above office. The lady who took the documents clearly did not know how to process the request asked a Mrs Erasmus (who I think was the supervisor) for assistance. She then seemed to receive guide lines, took the documents issued the receipt.

After 6 months we started enquiring as to the birth certificate no one in the Dept of Home affairs could trace the registration. I phoned Mrs Erasmus she assured me that the process sometimes takes long.

Another 6 months passed still no registration. I then spoke to a certain Mr Nkwana who apologised profusely requested me to bring him copies of the documents he will ensure that the process is corrected. The process was once again initiated Mr Nkwana acknowledged receipt of doc's for the second time on 01.10.2011.

The child is 3 years old already and STILL NOT REGISTRATION HAS TAKEN PLACE!!!

How can I go about getting the registration done as the personnel are just not reliable. The 2nd child, (also a foreign birth) has been born and the first is not yet registered!!!
