Department of Home Affairs
Change of surname

I've been married for 14 years, my husband used an incorrect surname when we got married and changed it later. Now I request that the Department of Home Affairs change my surname for me and my youngest child as this will affect us later in life.

I dealt with Mr Lekalakala from Randburg regional office who later decided to avoid my calls. I then forwarded the matter directly to the Director General, in Head Office twice via email as requested by his personal assistant. He never bothered to confirm receipt which is BAD for someone in his position.

As much as we as SA citizen's love our beloved country, we really don't need to struggle for such services. We have adopted the fact that we need to make things happen for ourselves, that's why we don't bother for other needs, but with this unfortunately I need help, it's out of my jurisdiction and it's frustrating me.

All I need done is for the either the Director General or the Minister of Home Affairs to assist me with this request which has been pending for more than 4 years.

Thanking you for urgent response and attention to my request.

Kind regards
Florenced
