Department of Home Affairs
How long does it take to get your ID book?

In June 2012 myself and my mother went to Department of Home Affairs to change our surname. They told us it will take 6 months. 3 months passed and my mother got her ID and i didn't. Then after 6 months we phoned again and they told us it will take 7 months now. As the time passed they told us 8months then 9 months and so on. It is now 12 months and I am still waiting. We phoned now again and they told us that my surname is changed but it will take another 3 months to get my ID book.

I'm getting for this country because its always an issue about something. There attitude and they don't care. I understand now why people get illegal ID's.
