Department of Home Affairs
OVER A YEAR TO TYPE A NAME IN TO THE SYSTEM???

On or around 21 January 2012 we applied to have the the natural fathers details inserted onto our daughters registration so we could obtain an unabridged birth certificate as it was needed to place her on medical aid. We waited the 6 weeks we were told this would take and started to call to follow up - which was pointless. I have numerous emails and reference numbers from following up on this dated from 7 June 2012 till 29 May 2013 to follow up on this. I also have the original proof of payment. I went into home affairs on 1 June 2013 and when it was checked on the system it stated that the documents had been sent to head office on or about 24 April 2012. Over a year ago and NOTHING has happened? I have attempted on NUMEROUS occasions to follow up and get this done and my final feedback was that we would have to begin the process from the beginning - I have proof of payment and the system in the centurion office stated the documents were sent to head office over a year ago. It is unacceptable - a 6 week process should not take over 68 weeks? And we then have to wait 6 more weeks to get the unabridged copy printed? Chances are there will be more problems with the application?
