City Of Johannesburg Municipality
Threatened by Meter Reade

I reside in Noordwyk. An unidentified man approached my property on foot demanding to know the whereabouts of my water meter. When I pointed it out to him he rudely informed me that the meter I showed him belonged to my neighbour. I looked again but did not see it as it was covered by the vine. He rudely informed me that he was the "Auditor" and that it was my responsibility to keep the meter in the open. I asked him why he was being so! Het threatened me with a bill of R50 000.

He left, I found the water meter behind the vine. I set off in my vehicle to find him and ask him to return. I found him in the next street and told him that we should start over. I introduced myself, informed him I had cleared the vegetation off the meter and requested him to return. He did not respond to my request or introduction but just said "No" and drove away. I followed, dissatisfied. I approached him further up the road and asked for his name. He told me that his name was "Randers". I was not satisfied and asked for his supervisors nmbr. He shouted at me threatening me with a bill of R100 000

I left, giving him a thumbs up. he responded with a 1 finger salute. He called the Metro police?
