I used to belong to the Disney Book Club; great product, but BAD service and dicey business practices.
In Nov 2012 I agreed to accept the "Small World" books on a trial basis, and also requested 2 Disney 2013 Calendars: If I like the books, they bill me (or rather Debit my bank account), and if I don't like them, I must simply return them within 21 days. I received and returned the books within a week (mailed on 04/12/2012) due to being in wrong language. Never received the calendars.
On 31/12/2012 my account was debited for the first installment for the "Small World" set, viz. R99.00. Even after phoning to enquire about the calendars (giving the "small world" ref no, spoke to Angie), they MUST have picked up that they have received the books back AND Debited my account, but said nothing. When I checked and discovered I'd been billed in error, I phoned again. They only captured the return on 28/01/2013 (nearly 2 months later)! How convenient! They also didn't think to refund me: if I hadn't phoned and kicked up a stink, they would have kept the money AND the product. How many other people have they caught out like this?!?!?! What kind of business exploits people in this way?!?!
