I had problems settling my electricity account and that resulted in power being disconnected by Constantia Metering. I understand that when service is suspended, it is action taken to prompt payment or prevent the accrued amount from increasing. Why one would add a penalty fee when re-connecting service? If there is a penalty fee, can it surely be R500? This is daylight, extortion at its worst. These unscrupulous electricity buyers need to be regulated. For instances like these, even criminal charges should be considered. How can someone just get a half of thousand bucks for nothing. Something is definitely wrong.
