Do not use Johan Smit based in Paarl to make your wedding dress! He made for me in Autumn 2012. I chose him based on personality but unfortunately did not do thorough research before paying my 50% deposit! Very poor service. I paid my deposit 7 months before my wedding date, yet at 6 weeks before my wedding I still had no dress, not even a mock up and no final design. Not enough fittings, ended up making at the last moment with poor skills. No final fitting before wedding as ran out of time and the fit of the dress on the day was terrible. It did not look like the dress had been designed and professionally made for me. It looked very amateur and cheap. Felt very unhappy with my dress and wished I had used someone else based on solid reputation or bought my dress off the rack as it would have saved me so much anxiety and stress in the run up to my wedding day. I would not recommend to anyone.
