Had my car battery replaced in July/Aug 2013 (quoted just under R2000, final account almost R4000 after 'labour and tests (latter not requested and not quoted for), was added. My scoring them 3/10 resulted in a phone call begging me to reconsider the score... I did... downgraded it to 2/10...
Car battery ran down while stationary for 10 days due to tracker battery failure in January 2014, less than 6 months after new battery installed.
Despite numerous attempts to recharge it by passing many e-toll gantries... plus more than R1650 in breakdown service call-outs, not success.
Went back to Fountains Mercedes to request a check on the battery... they were simply not interested... told me to come back 2 days later, leave the car for another 2 days with them to do series of tests at minimum cost of R1500.
Battery Centre verdict - Mercedes Fountains installed a dated battery (batch 34/2012) in July 2013.
Then drove to Menlyn Mercedes, who, with an apology and a smile, replaced the still-under-guarantee battery and confirmed it should never have been sold to me in the first place.
Kudos for Menlyn; No more Merc for Fountains... disgusted...
