My BMW X1 had a service on 09/01/2014. I informed the service consultant that there seems to be a "hissing" noise when braking & one of the service team drove with me in the car & informed me that it could be a problem with the brake booster. When I was contacted later that day to inform me that my car was done with it's service, I was informed that they could not investigate (or attempt to fix) the issue with the brakes as there was not enough time allocated to the job card. I was told that I could leave the car with them but they were very booked up & it was unlikely that my car would be looked at either that day or the next. When I collected my car I expressed my dissatisfaction & was told that I would need to rebook the car & that it could be 2-3 days in the workshop, also depending on parts availability. When I explained that I would then need a loan car, I was told it is a 4-6 week waiting list. When asked directly whether the brakes are a risk for failing, the service manager replied "it is and it isn't".
I am appalled that BMW would allow a customer to drive away in a car that has the potential for the brakes to fail, especially when that car is still within motorplan.
