My father purchased this vehicle in 2010 and it has been fraught with problems. The concerning one being the gearbox. At 1575 on the first trip with the vehicle it was using 24 L/100 km. He phoned the dealer Vaal motors and advised that in addition to the consumption there was a lot of heat under the vehicle there was an unusual burning smell coming from the underside of the vehicle.
When he returned from my holiday Vaal motors had the vehicle for two weeks dealing with problems relating to my call. See attached works order from Vaal (Check Torque). From their job card you will note they attended to the ballpoints. There was never a problem with the ball joints this would appear to be where the gearbox problem began.
I feel that Daimler undertook the warranty and there must be some good will to a gearbox that has only done 62000 km and the Mitsubishi name. I am waiting for East Rand motors to supply all the job cards as all the services were carried out at their garage. The question needs to be answered is when did this problem start.
It could never have been in the last 3 months and the technicians will agree that the condition started within the warranty.
