Is this treating a customer fairly? Absolutely NOT

I bought six 'plastic' bags with zippers for keeping books in my daughters school bag shortly after christmas. My daughter started school and Wednesday last week, and by Friday two of the zippers had already broken. I then found out about two other people who had bought similar bags and had had similar experiences. They are obviously of poor quality. I had to mark them with a permanent marker for school. I decided to take my slip and the bags back to Waltons to ask them to please exchange as they cost nearly R26 a bag and had broken within two days. The first lady I asked immediately said 'yes but they are not for school purposes". I told her that the zips would have broken had they been used for any purposes. I said that I was really unhappy. The supervisor said "You have marked them with a perm marker, we can't exhange because we cant sell them again" I said that you cant sell them anyway as the zips are broken. They called the manager who did not even TRY and assist me in any way. I said that I would never buy at Waltons again and her exact words were "THAT'S FINE MAM". I left all the bags on the counter and left the store. I will tell everyone I know about this.
