Clyde On 4th
Non Payment and Accounting for two Antiques

Last year 2012 I contacted Clyde Terry (Clyde on 4th) in Melville to value four antiques. My wife &I went to his shop on 14Dec 10am to inspect and value. He was out and his asst. receipted them unvalued. I had to part complete & sign SARS 264. We left at 1pm before he returned. Later the same day he emailed values of 2 items a table and potstand viewed in his shop for R5 500. I phoned Terry15 Dec, arranged to collect one unvalued item from asst & told him to put both on Dunnes Auction with his quoted prices as reserves. We never met. From 13 Feb requests for post auction accounting are ignored. On 29 April he wrote "table and potstand I paid you R3000 for in the shop" I denied this and requested proof of payment. I contacted NAADA (dealer assoc). The president attempted to arbitrate, but failed. Terry then sent me SARS 264 which had subsequently been completed above my signature, with a "Paid" rubber stamp as proof of payment of R3 000. He wants copy of "my quoted R5500 form". Would I accept R3000 that same morning and if so why would he then mail me that afternoon? I have twice asked Dunnes if they had sold these -no reply. This matter has now dragged for a year.
