My friends and I booked a girls spa day which we had been looking forward to. Expecting standards to be in line with the now closed Indaba branch, we booked at River Valley. From the time we arrived, every aspect of the day proved to be a disappointment.
The toilets were not in proper working order throughout the day, the therapists were unenthusiastic and hardly provided proper massages making us wonder whether they had been properly trained. One of the therapists even massaged me on my spine. There was absolutely no privacy during the full body massage, full body scrub and facial. It is shocking that the rooms do not even have a necessity such as curtains. Furthermore, the hygiene was completely questionable. My friend and her therapist were bitten by bed bugs during a treatment and my friend is now covered with red spots all over her body - pictures can be provided. It also seemed as if towels were being re-used as well as the body brushes without being sanitised...
The experience left us feeling completely disappointed with such a well established South African brand. It became clear that should no changes be made, River Valley will soon close its doors.
