Cavendish Square Shopping Centre
Lethal tiles

On Thursday the 31st of October at around 9:30 am I entered Cavendish Square from the Dreyer Street entrance closest to Vineyard Road. As I stepped into the Centre I slipped on the wet tiles and hurt my knee badly. Fortunately there were two technicians from Shindler who witnessed the incident who helped me up. There was also a security guard, who at my request contacted two managers to come and talk to me.
I showed the managers where and why I had slipped. Essentially Cavendish is a disaster safety-wise with regard to its floor surfaces, coupled with the negligent way that the entrance carpet runners are placed. They are about a meter from the doors, exposing wet slippery tiles just as customers enter the Centre with wet shoes. There no mats to wipe one's feet until you are well into the Centre. I didn't feel that the two Cavendish Square managers I spoke to were particularly concerned about what had happened, and I had to ask them to move the carpet runners closer to the door. Incidents of this nature concerning slippery tiles in the Centre have been reported in the press before, so it is very surprising that adequate steps have not been taken to rectify the problem.
