On Saturday between 14:07 - 14:08 my cell phone was out of my handbag at the Pick and Pay in Rosebank Mall. I went to the security at Pick and Pay and we got the CCTV footage. We managed to identify the people who had followed me and proceeded to my phone. We notified Servest Security Company which is responsible for the security in Rosebank Mall. They looked at the security and basically did nothing. Later on in the day I noticed a guy wearing the same jacket as the guy who my phone. O proceeded to the closest security guards, and asked if they had heard about the incident and whether they recognised the guy from the picture. They stared blankly at me. They hadn't even been notified!!! Therefore none of the security guards were even placed on alert to be on the lookout for these people. Which means that they could have spent the entire day going from shop to shop things from people as no one cared enough to notify anyone!!!
I find it totally unacceptable, I realise that it was a phone that was but there was no procedures in place or protocols in place to deal with the situation. May I then ask why there is security in a mall?
