I'm staying in the Richwood area and had a water leak underneath my pavement for two months from the end of July 2024 that I was not aware of. My water bill for the past three months is extremely high, and I'm trying to pay it off.
In the meantime, the water pushed up underneath our driveway, and we had to call out a plumber to fix a broken pipe. I went to the Milnerton municipality to arrange to pay the account. The clerk just told me that I first need to pay the amount that is in arrears before they can arrange for the rest of the account to be paid off. There's a lot of paperwork to fill in before this is approved, though.
I tried explaining that I don't have the R2500 in arrears to pay off—how can he not assist? Then, I asked to make arrangements to pay it off by the 25th of November 2024, when I only get paid. He said no, the payment due date is the 22nd of November 2024. I don't understand—looks like I can't be assisted in any way.
I reported this and tried to arrange for payment and to have a look at my invoices. The clerk did not even want to look or have the leak explained to him. I'm asking for help here, and this clerk is just saying I must first pay? How is this possible if this is not an intended problem? This was a leak out of my hands that I was not aware of, and I'm asking for assistance. Please...
