I was dismissed the 11 February 2013. I approached Retrenchment Assist to assist me in my CCMA case. Although our appointment was in the same month they referred the case to the CCMA late which left me with a lot of explaining to do. I was told it was a administrative error on there side. The case got referred and I had a date for arbitration given that we don't settle before the hearing. The commissioner was surprised to hear that I am paying for there services but there is no-one to assist me. Since February I had about 3 calls from the consultant, a little bit of paperwork but other than that nothing. I had to represent myself at the hearing and I was told that I could end up with nothing and that I will be stupid to enter arbitration without a legal representative. I did not want to go that route as I don't have the knowledge and background of a labour lawyer.
