So who's got my money Discovery?

So after using my hard earned holiday money to cover medical expenses I try to claim it back from Discovery of whom I have been a member for 13 years. After I had to follow up several times as to the progress of my claim I finally receive confirmation that my money was paid out into my Standard bank account - Great news except that I have not been a Standard bank client for more that 11 years? After querying the refund again I am assured that Standard bank will reverse the funds as soon as they see the account does not exist anymore and I will be refunded shortly after- Great news again except Discovery confirms that Standard bank recycles account numbers and that my money was indeed paid into someone's account at Standard bank with my 11 year old account number- Can this be true?
After phoning Standard bank (on Discovery's request) they are unable to assist me with my query and according to Discovery they have now done all they "have" to do and it is no longer their problem?
What happened to the level of service you use to offer Discovery? If everything is left to the client to sort out by himself - should we consider self insuring our health as well?
