A fellow guest was wandering the grounds, screaming, moaning about killing everyone. I'm not making this up, the poor chap was in the thrall of a profound psychosis.
I alerted the front desk, that the man was deranged and possibly dangerous. A rather nervous guest next to me agreed vehemently.
The desk clerk said nothing could be done, as the afflicted was a US citizen, and that medication would be dropped off by the consulate in the morning- his EXACT words. Leery of being harmed by the unmedicated, gurning, cursing guest, I checked out at 8pm.
Apparently, fear of harm, or at the least the unpleasant prospect of trying to sleep amid shouts of "I'll KILL ALL YOU, YOU cnts!!! " at volumes usually reserved for a street brawl, did not merit the waiver of my night's fee. I tried, at first amicably, then with rising exasperation, to explain. No dice.
If you'd like to stay somewhere where basic safety, civility, and any shred of a helpful attitude is willfully ignored, if the midst of a brothel brawl is your idea of a good night's rest, then this seedy, broke down, tatty, rickety "Ritz" is just the garret you've been looking for.
