Netcare
Frightening treatment at Waterfall hospital Midran

My wife and I was bitten by our dogs after trying to separate them during a fight on the 21st December 2013.On arrival at the the emergency unit we were directed to the reception area to have the paperwork filled even though we were bleeding and in pain. They insisted that signatures were required even though the hand I needed to sign was wrapped in a cloth. My wife and I were given 2 sponges and antiseptic and asked to disinfect our wounds by ourselves with no assistance from the nursing staff. The doctor finally came who did not take the time to examine our wounds. All he did was tell the nurse to dress the wounds and arrange Tetanus shots, antibiotics and tablets for the pain. The funny thing was that the hospital had none of the medication on hand to help us. We were told they ran out at the pharmacist. When we asked the nurse how this was possible she told us that she only works there and that it is not her problem. We were given a script to go to a pharmacy the next day to get the meds and administer the tetanus injection ourselves. I do no even want to know what we would be billed for only getting a script, 2 sponges, water and antiseptic with a supposed private hospital treatment.
